Bicycle Tour Het Amsterdamse Bos (14 km)

Het Amsterdamse Bos has a unique park landscape, it is created in 1934. It has a great variety of different landscapes. A beautiful alternation of forest, water and swampland. The total park is approximately 10 square kilometres. It is easy to follow the sign posted tour, which brings you through all the different landscapes, the goat farm, pancake house etc.

Tour around the Schiphol Airport (22 km + 4km from and to the bike rental)

The tour of Schiphol is a perfect way to see the airport not out of the air or riding the car. You ride through Het Amsterdamse Bos to the airport. During the tour of course you can see a lot of planes coming and going, you will see the real plane spotter places and you can visit a hangar.

But also for those who want to enjoy the nature, it is a nice tour.

If you keep the airport all the time at your right hand, you will easily find your way.

Amstel tour, including Ronde Hoep (30 km + 5 km from and to the bike rental)

Riding along the Amstel River with beautiful residences and polder landscapes. This tour brings you to a unique polder landscape De Ronde Hoep. De Ronde Hoep is a peat polder, enclosed by the peat rivers Bullewijk, Waver, Oude Waver and Amstel. You ride on small, quiet roads. Starting at the bike rental you go through the park to the Kalfjeslaan, which brings you at a beautiful bicycle track to the Amstel River. Hitting the Amstel you go right along the Amstel following the tour (ANWB sign posted).

Gein tour (37 km + 5 km from and to the bike rental)

To ride this tour, start at the same way as the Amstel tour. If you reach the Amstel River go right. In Ouderkerk aan de Amstel you take the road to Abcoude. You continue your tour with a route on a beautiful dike road along Gein River. From Diemen you follow the south side of Amsterdam and ride back to the bike rental (ANWB sign posted).

Muiden tour (28km + half of the Gein tour)

The above mentioned Gein tour can be extended with the Muiden tour. Muiden is a beautiful small old city with many terraces at the water front. It also offers you the possibility to visit the Muider Castle (see tips) (ANWB sign posted)

Lake tour (38 km + 17 km from and to the bike rental)

In between Gooi and Vecht you can find the lakes of Kortenhoef, Loosdrecht and Ankeveen. These lakes are created by peat winning on a huge scale. You will find a beautiful alternation of polder and swamp bushes, ditches and open water. You also will meet the Gooise forest and bike along beautiful residences. To hit this tour you bike from our bike rental to Nigtevecht. (not sign posted)

Zaans inheritance tour (32 km + 19 km from and to the bike rental)

In the 12th century you could find some small villages situated on elevated areas in a peat surrounding. By winning the peat, the ground level descended. Dikes were constructed to protect the area. This area is famous for the amount of mills, all very well restored.

To hit this tour you go from the bike rental through the city of Amsterdam (a nice tour on itself) and take one of the ferries to cross the river IJ. You follow the signs to Zaanstad (from there it is ANWB sign posted)

Riding through the bulb fields (25 km + 36 km from and to the bike rental)

During spring you can make a beautiful tour through the bulb fields.  If you have two days to spend, you can make a nice combination of riding around the Westeinder lakes and crossing the bulb fields. The bulb field tour starts in Lisse. (sign posted with signs “Keukenhof van Dam”)

Aeën and Diën tour (33km + 24km from and to the bike rental)

A nice two days tour through the polder landscape north of Amsterdam. Part of the tour brings you along the IJsselmeer (big lake). Along the water you will find a bicycle path high on the dike, which enables you to look over the lake at one side and over the polder landscape at the other side. The tour brings you through different typical fisher villages at the shore of the formal IJsselmeer.

To enter this tour, you go from our bike rental through the city of Amsterdam and take the ferry behind the Central Station to the North of Amsterdam. If you leave the ferry you follow the signs to Schellingwoude. It is here that the tour starts (ANWB signposted)

Gouwzee tour (39km)

Extending the above mentioned tour with the Gouwzee tour brings you to Marken, Monickendam and Volendam, some more typical old fisher villages. These villages have good fish restaurants along the water front. We recommend this tour, if you want to get familiar with the Dutch landscape, towns and villages. (ANWB sign posted)

Fortress tour (135km)

A more day tour can be spend on a tour along the fortresses of the Dutch Water Line. Many of the fortresses are restored; some can be visited inside also. The fortresses were constructed in between 1880 and 1914.
